Bob LaRue

St. Lawrence County native Bob LaRue is both news anchor and author. LaRue, a 1973 graduate of Parishville-Hopkinton Central School, attended SUNY Potsdam.

Now in his 30th year of broadcasting, Bob is News Director for WVLF, which includes responsibility for the stations news content. He has been involved in news reporting and writing in northern New York for over 25 years.

Bob has also authored six books about the North Country and its history. His four-book set entitled St. Lawrence County Almanac has sold thousands of copies and has been a popular radio program since 1983.  His fifth book, 1998 Ice Storm Almanac is a detailed account of the January 1998 ice storm which devastated northern New York, southeastern Canada and parts of the northeastern U.S.  In 2001, LaRue developed and marketed Hometown Trivia, a new 840-question trivia game, also about St. Lawrence County, past and present.  Then in 2002, he produced Bicentennial, a pictorial with related history about St. Lawrence County's 200th birthday celebration, also in 2002.

LaRue also owns and manages a local Internet website development company, CommunitySights.com in Potsdam, which developed the Valley 96.1 website,
North Country Sports Net, several northern New York community sites and websites for dozens of local businesses.

In addition, LaRue enjoys family activities, sports, games, good movies and computers.
